Ampere Tourer
As a 70 year-old returning to cycling after about 30 years, I felt that some power assistance would be beneficial; so an e-bike was the way to go.
After test-riding a couple of different makes at my nearest e-bike specialist, I settled on the Ampere Tourer (with the 10.4 Ah battery and optional colour LCD display for the controller) for the following reasons:
1. Fit, comfort and control
2. Sturdy build quality
3. Supporting a local (Devon) UK business
Since collecting the bike I’ve done two short trips – the first of 10 miles & the second 16 miles and the bike rides very well, comfortable, no rattles, the gear-change is slick & smooth, the hydraulic disk brakes, after initial ‘bedding-in’, are very effective and the power assistance is just right, enabling me to breeze up hills without too much effort and making pedalling against a head wind much less tiring, whilst at the end of each trip I still felt that I’d had some worthwhile exercise, without getting cream-crackered. I didn’t charge the battery between trips and after 26 miles, it’s still showing more than half capacity remaning; so the range on a full charge would seem to be good for at least 50-60 miles, however this is obviously dependant on rider weight and how much assist you use – I weigh about 14st and used the assist at max 5 setting on steeper hills, 3 against the wind, 1 or 2 cruising on the flat and 0 on down slopes – YMMV
Only one minor issue – when I first got the bike home and tried it out, the speedometer was wildly inaccurate, maxing at just over 2 mph, no matter how fast I pedaled. however, this was easily sorted by a phone call to Ampere, which was immediately answered by a helpful chap who gave me the correct settings to input on the LCD controller.
Overall, I’m extremely pleased with my Ampere Tourer and look forward to many miles of happy cycling.

Cycle king in Bury St Edmunds couldn’t have been any more helpful or attentive. It is unfortunate that you can’t test ride the bikes as I feel this is rather important and was my only quavering in purchasing my new Ampere bike. But they assured me it’s a great bike. Now it’s home I am very pleased. I have ridden it on a short comfortable ride and now look forward to going out again. I didn’t notice the long hill, which I sometimes think shall I push my bike today! . It feels strong and the technology is simple to use. It seems it’s a very good value for money ebike.

Purchased the Ampere Tourer from my local Cycle King shop on the 23 April 2021.
I am 72 years of age and have problems with my knee joints. Well after 2 weeks of use I can only recommend you on your product. I now have no problems getting up the hill to home. The quality of the parts is superb, part from the cap on the suspension has been lost at the weekend. Must try to get another one.
